Dear Benavidez Community and Families,

It is truly my pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you as we begin the 2018-2019 school year at S. Ben Benavidez Elementary School. This year we will continue focusing on raising student achievement and having a greater sense of significance and belonging.

As I begin my fourth year as Principal of Benavidez Elementary, I will continue to work diligently with parents and faculty to foster an atmosphere that promotes a professional learning community characterized by academic excellence, trust, respect, community involvement, and open communication. I am committed to working in collaboration with all of you to develop and implement a shared vision. We will work together as a team to promote the mission that, β€œAll students can learn at a high level; hope is not a strategy, and failure is not an option.” We, as a collective body of professional educators, will empower each other and our students in a nurturing, disciplined, and challenging learning environment. All of our students can and will learn at optimum levels and become responsible members of society.

Again, this year our focus is on providing a positive, challenging, and academically oriented learning environment for all students. Our goal is to provide learning experiences, which require high levels of critical thinking and reasoning, accompanied by application of learning to real-world situations. Additionally, teachers will be focusing on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). We will have a strong focus on reading, writing, and mathematics. Our teachers are experienced and dedicated professionals who are committed to helping all students reach their full potential.

I look forward to another very successful school year. Please stay involved as we work together to assure your child has the BEST learning experience this 2018-2019 school year.

Sincerely,

Nikki Jimenez
