Hi everyone! Happy March!! This is Dr. Guerrero, Superintendent of Schools, and this is our monthly video update. Welcome to yet another month, getting us closer to the official start of Spring. I have loved seeing all the blooms in all our fields as I drive to my office every morning, but this past two weeks I have specially loved seeing all our elementary students back in school!! I want to thank all our parents, students and staff for following all safety protocols. Sadly it is our new normal for the moment, but I am glad it has not stopped our willingness to continue learning. I encourage our parents to ask their children about the safety procedures that they are following every day when they are with us. I assure you that your children are very important to all of us and I am so thankful that you are entrusting them to our care each day, especially during these uncertain times.
The recent COVID-19 numbers in Fresno County continue to show improvement and we may be able to welcome back our secondary students as well, perhaps as soon as later this month. It may happen with a quick turn-around just like it did for elementary schools, so be ready! We will continue to communicate with you so that you can plan as we work toward getting all our students back.
I am happy and proud to report that the process has been very smooth and we are all getting used to having our students back. Thank you to all staff for preparing so well so that this could happen. Everybody has shown true leadership and a committed effort these last few months.
I continue to remind you that it is extremely important for all students to log in to Zoom on days that they learn from a distance. For now, middle and high school students need to do this four days during the week: Tuesday through Friday. It is very important for our students to keep learning as much as they can while we wait for the time when all students can physically return to our schools. Let’s do our part to make this happen and remember to continue to wear our masks, wash our hands regularly, and keep our distance.
Our staff was offered the opportunity to receive the first dose of the COVID vaccine this week. We partnered with United Health Centers for this service and they are also offering it to our community members who qualify for the vaccine. If you are a
- Healthcare worker (all ages)
- At least 65 years old, regardless of occupation
- Food and Agriculture worker (all ages)
- Education and Childcare worker (all ages)
- Emergency Services worker (all ages)
Please call 800-492-4227 for an appointment or schedule one online at unitedhealthcenters.org. The Uniter Health Center is currently hosting COVID Vaccine events on Tuesdays and Thursdays by appointment only. You must bring an employee badge, check stub, or letter with your company header as proof employment. I hope some of you are able to take advantage of this service.
Our staff who got the vaccine on Monday reported that the process was smooth, fast, and overall well organized. I want to personally thank our District Health team led by Viviana Renteria and Zulema Cisneros and also Scott Griffin in our Human Resources Department for the planning and coordination. We are scheduled to receive our second dose on March 29.
During this month we recognize the historical contributions that women have made and continue to make to society. Although my mom’s name is not written in any history books, she definitely made many contributions that still live on. She raised me to serve others and taught me the importance of education. Similarly, all our mothers in our community and all women who serve as role models to our students are making a daily impact. I know this past year has not been easy, but your dedication to your family, work and career is noted and appreciated. As a mom and a woman, I acknowledge your sacrifices and want to take this opportunity to thank you and honor you.

¡Hola! ¡¡Feliz marzo!! Soy la Dra. Guerrero, la Superintendente de Parlier, y este es nuestro video mensual. Bienvenidos a otro mes más, acercándonos al principio oficial de la primavera. Me ha encantado ver todas las flores en los campos en camino a mi oficina todas las mañanas, ¡pero las últimas dos semanas me ha encantado especialmente ver a todos nuestros estudiantes de primaria de regreso en la escuela! Quiero agradecer a todos nuestros padres, estudiantes y personal por seguir todos los protocolos de seguridad. Por ahora, esta es nuestra nueva normalidad, pero me alegro de que nuestra voluntad de seguir aprendiendo siga en marcha. Ánimo a los padres a que pregunten a sus estudiantes sobre los procedimientos de seguridad que siguen todos los días cuando están con nosotros. Les aseguro que sus hijos e hijas son muy importantes para todos nosotros y estoy muy agradecida de que los confíen a nuestro cuidado todos los días, especialmente durante estos tiempos de incertidumbre.
Los recientes números de COVID-19 en el condado de Fresno continúan mostrando una mejora y es posible que también podamos darle la bienvenida a nuestros estudiantes de secundaria y preparatoria, a lo mejor antes del fin de este mes. Puede suceder rápidamente como sucedió con las escuelas primarias, ¡así que prepárense! Continuaremos comunicándonos con ustedes para que puedan hacer planes mientras nos seguimos preparando para enseñarle a todos nuestros estudiantes en persona.
Estoy feliz y orgullosa de informarles que todo está yendo muy bien y que todos nos estamos acostumbrando a nuestros estudiantes en las escuelas. Gracias a todo el personal por prepararse tan bien para que esto pudiera suceder. Todos han demostrado un verdadero liderazgo y un gran esfuerzo estos últimos meses.
Sigo recordándoles que es sumamente importante que todos los estudiantes participen en Zoom los días que aprenden a distancia. Por ahora, los estudiantes de secundaria y preparatoria deben hacer esto cuatro días durante la semana: de martes a viernes. Es esencial que nuestros estudiantes sigan aprendiendo tanto como puedan mientras esperamos el momento en que todos los estudiantes puedan regresar físicamente a sus escuelas. Hagamos nuestra parte para que esto suceda y recuerden seguir usando cubrebocas, lavarnos las manos con regularidad y mantener la distancia.

Durante este mes reconocemos las contribuciones históricas que las mujeres han hecho y siguen haciendo a la sociedad. Aunque el nombre de mi madre no está escrito en ningún libro de historia, definitivamente hizo muchas contribuciones que aún siguen. Ella me crió para servir a los demás e inculcó en mí la importancia de la educación. Igualmente, todas nuestras madres en nuestra comunidad y todas las mujeres que sirven como modelos a seguir para nuestros estudiantes están teniendo un impacto diariamente. Sé que este último año no ha sido fácil, pero su dedicación a su familia, trabajo y carrera se nota y es apreciada. Como madre y mujer, reconozco sus sacrificios y quiero aprovechar esta oportunidad para agradecerles y honrarlas.
